Kid Koala

By Ash in Musical Murmurings

Kid Koala

I received a last minute invitation to support the legendary Kid Koala yesterday and had a superb evening chatting with the man about turntables, techniques and hip-hop. Needless to say, his set was stunning. Whereas Q-Bert could be described as the Miles Davis of the scratch, Eric San is the Jimi Hendrix of the turntable.

When most turntablism was comprised of the same old samples scratched and juggled ad infinitum, the Kid took the game to a whole new level with his release of ‘Drunk Trumpet’.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Eric and I look forward to his new album which is out later this year.

Shout out to Soundcrash Crew Rob Waller, Olly alongside the insane DJ Cheeba.
